About artist

Anna Doumler was born in 1964 in Saint Petersbourg in Rusia. She trained as a designer, then as a ceramist at the  Higher Moukhina School of Applied Decorative Arts of Saint Petersbourg from 1981 to 1990. She arrived in France in 1991 and carried on with her artistic research with painted porcelain creations. At the same time, she followed a course on pottery restoration and worked in that field until 1990.

In 1999, she opened and, since then, has been leading a pottery and painting workshop. Shared emotions inspire her in her own artistic research. She went back to painting, pushing back the stylistic limits. All the mediums inspire her; fabric, paper or clay, all stimulate her. An organic weave of these mediums underlines the relief of her painting. She is constantly looking for new artistic ideas. Her work on a series of paintings enables her to develop and go to the end of her general idea. In some cases, her work can be read as a book (Series “About the life of he-goats).

This free artist, who does not want to “shut herself up in a one and only style,” transfigures our daily life with her powerful, colourful and concession less paintings. Her works are in private collection in France, Germany, Russia, China and the United States.
